Weekly Round-Up – Friday 21st February

Welcome to the very first Weekly Round-Up of 2020! In the Weekly Round-Up, I will share with you all the news and announcements from the board game community, as well as revealing my Game of the Week! So lets crack on with the Weekly Round-Up for Friday 21st February!

Villanous gets the Marvel treatment!

Announced this week, Villanous, the popular game from Ravensburger that sees players taking on the role of a famous Disney villain, is set to get a Marvel re-brand! Players wills find a similar game, with the characters available of course hailing from the Marvel universe. You will probably see the likes of Thanos and Ultron but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

I really like the a-symmetry in Villanous and while it can be difficult to get your head around to begin with, once it clicks, you manage to garner a very enjoyable experience from it!  I am excited to see what this release will be like, but for now, we will just have to sit tight for more information to be released in the coming months!

Featured New Release of the Week

My featured release this week is Fast Sloths, from Stronghold Games. This game, designed by Friedemann Friese with artwork from Harald Lieske, sees players racing across the map, using animals to transport the rather slow sloths, picking up leaves along the way.

This pick-up and deliver, racing game has an interesting hand -management mechanic, with the players finding it increasingly harder to manage their hands as the hand limit drops with more leaves being collected.

Players must utilise other animals in the forest to get the slot across the map as quickly and efficiently as possible!

I will be playing this over the weekend and of course filming an unboxing so be sure to look out for my thoughts on the game! I’m sure this is going to be a hit! This game is available over on Zatu at https://bit.ly/39PZKfk

Game of the week

My game of the week this week is the recently reviewed Ramen Fury! I had an absolute blast playing this card game. A quick and simple hand-management, take-that game which sees you attempting to put together the tastiest bowls of ramen which will in turn, score you the most points. You can add chillies to each others bowls to make bowls a little too spicy for peoples liking, giving out minus points, but there is a silver lining in the form of the Fury Flavour packet! There is a lot of game in this small, ramen-styled box so if you get the chance, check it out! Pick a copy up here: https://bit.ly/2uigtJb
